Dyke Golf Club
Golf Courses & Equipment in Brighton, East Sussex
In 1906 the Dyke Golf Course was established high on the Sussex Downs, however the current layout is of more recent construction. Wartime use as a tank training ground necessitated a comprehensive rebuild. The new course designed by Fred Hawtree is much longer than the pre-war version and is now a 1st class test of golf measuring 6605 yards with a par of 72. As with most downland courses, the difficulty varies with the strength and direction of the wind. At an elevation of 200 metres the views are spectacular in all directions.
